The Diagnostic Imaging department at Massachusetts Veterinary Referral Hospital, located in Woburn, Massachusetts, invites applications for a 1-year veterinary diagnostic imaging internship. The Radiology department is staffed by 4 board-certified radiologists, six technicians, and two veterinary assistants.
The internship will provide supervised training by 4 on-site DACVR radiologists in small animal diagnostic imaging. Additional support will be provided by other DACVR radiologists at other Ethos hospitals. The successful candidate will gain introductory experience in small animal radiographic interpretation and dictation, fluoroscopic procedures, ultrasonography, computed tomography, and magnetic resonance imaging. Hands-on clinical ultrasound training and foundations of radiograph interpretation will be the primary focus of the internship.
Other internship expectations include participation in known case conferences, diagnostic imaging rounds, journal club, and presenting at the hospital doctor meetings. Additionally, the intern will be encouraged to undertake a diagnostic imaging research project or preparation of a case report for publication and presentation.
Mass Vet is located in the suburbs northwest of Boston and is the largest private practice emergency and specialty referral hospital in New England, seeing over 50,000 patient visits annually. We have a very busy emergency department (20+ clinicians) that generates a large imaging caseload in addition to the specialty services that include specialists in critical care (7), internal medicine (7), surgery (5), neurology (3), oncology (2), cardiology (2), ophthalmology (2), and anesthesia (2).
Our hospital is well equipped with two digital radiography suites (Canon DR plates), seven ultrasound machines (2 Canon Aplio i700s for Radiology, 2 GE Vivid e95s for Cardiology, 1 Canion Aplio a450 for Medicine, and 2 point-of-care machines for ER/ICU), a 64-slice Toshiba Aquilion CT, a 1.5T Siemens MRI, and an interventional suite with fluoroscopy (OEC9900 C-arm).
The department is open 7 days a week. At least one radiologist is scheduled all-day, in-hospital, on weekends, and 2-3 radiologists on weekdays.
Schedule
The internship will consist of a 5-day work week, with alternating three or four shifts per week in the diagnostic imaging department and one or two shifts per week in the emergency department (3 ER shifts every 2 weeks).

Prerequisites
- Graduate of a College of Veterinary Medicine
- Applicants must have completed a small animal rotating internship.
Requirements

- Candidate must be eligible for a federal DEA license.
