The Veterinary Specialty Hospital of San Diego is a state of the art multi-specialty hospital where practicing the highest caliber of evidence-based patient care is of the utmost importance. As a teaching hospital, we value the opportunity to train doctors and to help them get started in their careers.
The Veterinary Specialty Hospital of San Diego is a state-of-the-art, three story, 27,000 square foot hospital. Specialty equipment includes videoendoscopes, bronchoscopes, laparoscopes, digital radiology, ultrasonography with color and power Doppler, Holter and event monitors, CT scanners, C-arm fluoroscopy, a linear accelerator, standard fluoroscopy, electrodiagnostics, cardiac telemetry, ventilator support, operating microscope, diode laser, CO2 laser, phacoemulsification unit, an in-house commercial laboratory, and full service 24 hour emergency and critical care service. Each of the six operating rooms is equipped with a multifunction bed-side monitor with capabilities for arterial blood pressure monitoring, pulse oximetry, capnography, and ECG.
The associate doctor will have access for consultation with multiple board-certified specialists: internists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologist, surgeons, ophthalmologist, neurologists, critical care specialists, dentists, cardiologists, radiologists, and doctor of pharmacy. The open collegial structure of this facility, with all specialties located in a single building, allows for ease of accessibility with other specialists and house officers. This allows close cooperation between the dermatology services and all other specialties, including those in clinical pharmacy, nephrology/renal dialysis, and cardiology affiliated with the UCVMC-SD.
Applicants should have completed a general internship or 2 plus years in general practice and have the intent of pursuing a dermatology residency. The primary location will be the Sorrento Valley hospital, about 30-40% of time may be spent in the San Marcos location with Dr. Boynosky. Cases are seen in the Sorrento Valley location 6 days a week by Dr. Stokking and Dr. Foust and 4 days a week in San Marcos by Dr. Boynosky.
